Amazon.com Product Description
The Humminbird 525 Fish Finder makes an ideal upgrade to your old factory, or dealer-installed model. The 525 is a compact, high-resolution fish finder that is easy to use, and mounts virtually anywhere on your boat, giving you the economical, yet powerful tools you need to make the most out of every single fishing opportunity.

The Humminbird 525 fish finder utilizes a high-contrast, 5-inch, 12-level grayscale FSTN LCD display with 240 x 240 lines of resolution to provide you with crystal-clear views of fish, the bottom topography and surrounding structures. This unit makes use of a 20-degree single-beam sonar that is optimized for coverage and precision bottom detail. This powerful system ultimately provides you with a reliable picture up to a depth of 800 feet, and with Real Time Sonar and Sonar Echo Enhancement you not only instantly capture the action under your boat, but get a target separation of as little as 2.5 inches and can track a small jig to over 40 feet. This unit's high-speed, micro-dynamic transducer is reliable up to 70 mph, and even includes water temperature and speed capability.

The 525 fish finder features a TripLog with distance, elapsed time, and average speed, totally automatic or manual operation depending upon your need at the time, and alarms for depth, fish, and battery. This unit also features a one-touch zoom with adjustable 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x zoom levels, and lets you select TruArch to show you actual sonar returns, or FishID+ with a target depth. The Humminbird 525 includes an adjustable chart speed, an advanced LED backlight for easy night viewing, and a feature memory that retains your settings to save you set-up time. As an additional convenience, the 525 includes X-Press Menus for instant access to the most important features with fewer button presses, and a selectable large-digit screen for easy-to-read number display.

Constructed to be tough, the 525 fish finder is fully gasketed, so it is not only waterproof, but floats. This unit comes complete with a tilt-and-swivel, quick-disconnect mounting system, with no inconvenient cables to plug in. The 525 measures 7 x 7.25 x 4 inches (W x H x D), and is backed by a manufacturer's one-year limited warranty.

5 out of 5 stars Great Product for the panfish fisherman!!!   December 14, 2009
Servant (Stone Mountain, GA)
Not sure if my review will weight much to others but this product helps you put fish in the boat. On my last trip out on a local georgia lake, me and a partner were the only two catching fish (well it was a cold fall day and many were leaving because of it). The fish were on the move due to fall lake turnover but we used the Real time sonar window and could see our jigs and the depth of the fish. When the fish moved by the boat we know just how deep they were and could see our jigs so we knew how deep or shalow to go. This fishfinder works great.

5 out of 5 stars Humminbird 525 Fish finder   February 22, 2009

I have used this product previously and find it does exactly what I need it to do. I need to see the depth of the water. Since I am back trolling, it is too late to see the fish anyway. The depth finder tells me what the depth is and where my bait has been.

SEEMS TO BE AN NICE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT AND IT WAS THE BEST PRICE WE COULD FIND ANYWHERE. IT CAN FIND THE FISH, BUT . . . IT WON'T HOOK THEM!! WE ARE VERY PLEASED.

2 out of 5 stars spot humidity   October 6, 2008

Once installed the Fish Finder had a humidity spot in the screen. after 7-8 hours disappeared, but I am nervous that happens again.
Other problem, maybe by my fault, it is not possible to convert to metrics, (unbelievable at this time)
"quick-disconnect mounting system" jajaja...
I am not happy with this fish finder. My last Garmin 100 (discontinued) was very good.

I requested that my wife get me this for my birthday. Took it to the lake on a week's vacation late Sept thru early Oct. so I worked with it for more than a week.
-I don't know if I can trust the depth readings. For a while, it was telling me I was in less than a foot of water when I knew it was 2 feet deep. I noticed that there is an offset you can program in to correct how deep you might have it mounted and used that to correct it, but still, why was it so far off? The way I had it mounted it was only a few inches under water. I tried using string with a weight to ck the depth, seemed ok 2 out of 3 times, but 3rd time seemed about a foot off.
-On cool mornings, when some sun would hit it, it fogged up and I couldn't read most of the display. The fog is internal. 15 years ago I bought a Wide-Eye 100 Hummingbird, it didn't fog for years. When it did I contacted Hummingbird tech support, and they said they could fix it but it would have cost more than buying a new unit. So I got the impression from that, that fog is a defect. But the FAQ's at their website say that's just the way it is - when did this change? I always thought that such an electronic device would have been assembled in a humidity controlled assy room so moisture wouldn't get in and fog the display. Maybe that's in the 'good old days' before everything is crap-made in China.
